General Information

LR Psychology Services operates as a private psychological practice and at LR Psychology Services we understand that many parents are seeking formal diagnoses for their children. However, it is important to note that payment for a private assessment does not automatically guarantee a diagnosis. Instead, we focus on comprehensive assessments that identify your child’s needs and can in some cases give a diagnosis. Our goal, as a psychological service, is to work together with the parent/s in order to help them better understand their child's needs and provide evidence based recommendations that best support their development, regardless of whether a formal diagnosis has been established.

LR Psychology reports are accepted and recognised by the Health Service Executive (HSE), Department of Education and the Department of Social Welfare, TUSLA and the legal system in Ireland and the United Kingdom.

All the tools administered at LR Psychology Services are used as part of information gathering and the Gold standard for use in diagnosing ASD and other behavioural disorders.

I have been a Chartered Psychologist since 2006 (BPS) who are the chartering body of psychologists. I am also an Associate Professor in University of Limerick and have 15 years experience lecturing in ASD and I am an expert witness for the Irish and U.K. legal system in ASD.

In any special school or special class placement there are only a limited number of available places. The Department of Education is responsible for prioritising places when people have a psychological report. Recommendations on a letter or psychological report does not automatically guarantee access to SNA allocation in schools, rather the school can provide access based on their own availability.

Clients with private health insurance can claim back fees based on the type of cover that they have. We can provide detailed receipts for our clients to facilitate this.

A Multi-disciplinary assessment is not a requirement for the Department of Education in order to adequately assess an individual. LR Psychology Services offer Multi-disciplinary assessments at a higher cost.

At LR Psychology Services, we fully recognise and understand the range of emotions that parent/s may experience when bringing their child for a psychological assessment. Please note that at times, the expectations that parent/s may have of the assessment do not align with the outcome of the assessment, which may result in frustration and disappointment. Please know that we are committed to doing our utmost in order to provide comprehensive support and services that help facilitate this process. Our priority is to ensure that both you and your child feel understood and cared for throughout this process.
